Clarence Hines Jazz Orchestra
About Us
The Clarence Hines Jazz Orchestra is a premier big band ensemble led by trombonist, composer, and arranger Clarence Hines. Rooted in the rich tradition of big band jazz, the orchestra brings together some of the finest jazz musicians working today to perform original compositions and imaginative arrangements — music that honors the legacy of the jazz orchestra while pushing it forward with a fresh, contemporary voice.
In January 2026, the Clarence Hines Jazz Orchestra was featured at the Jazz Education Network (JEN) Conference in New Orleans, one of the most prestigious showcases in jazz. The performance highlighted a diverse program of original works and arrangements, including compositions drawn from the orchestra's upcoming album, Confluence.
Confluence is a collection of eight original works representing the full scope of the ensemble's artistry. Blending intricate writing with open improvisation and a deep sense of swing, Confluence is poised to be a landmark recording in contemporary big band jazz.
